Walton County selected Madrid CPWG to create and operate a free public transportation system as part of the FDOT Transit Service Development project, The project scope was to develop a cost-effective and efficient flexible route public transit service in Walton County along the US 331 Highway corridor. Madrid CPWG is responsible for providing oversight required to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) codes and regulations.

- Driver selection and training
- Vehicle standards
- Service performance Metrics
- Route performance Metrics
- Develop ride guides
- Company logo and branding
- Developing transit marketing
- Develop and field GPS based mobile app
- Develop and field GPS based trip planner
- Develop and maintain the website
- Provide Customer Service
- Rider surveys
- Compliance with FDOT/FTA with regulations
- Maintenance reporting
The Madrid CPWG developed transit route runs four times a day, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. The route operates a total of 8 hours per day. The Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) Program provides alternatives to the standard bus route if riders are unable to make it to one of our 4 stops. Riders may qualify for the program by age, disability, or income.
The Madrid CPWG developed transit route includes four stops:
- Defuniak Springs Courthouse
- Freeport Park and Ride
- Freeport county offices
- Santa Rosa Annex
The program provides a free taxi ride home if illness or unexpected overtime occurs.
