CRUSA Water Production Facility
(Phase 1 and Phase 2)
Madrid CPWG was requested to provide a geotechnical investigation/engineering/recommendations, laboratory testing, and field inspection and testing services for new construction at the CRUSA Water Production Facility in Bartow, Florida.
The project consisted of:
- New utility operations building
- Water production facility including
- Two water tanks
- Access road
- Emergency access driveways
- Parking areas
- Truck service area
- utility installations
Phase 1. Madrid CPWG conducted nearly daily density testing verification in Phase 1 as the pads for the operations building and the water production facility were formed, the surrounding area was brought to grade, potable water and sewer pipes were placed, subbase material for the access roads was lain, and limerock base for parking lots and access roads was placed; all while working side by side with two separate contractors (each responsible for one phase of the project).
Phase 2. This phase consisted of large and small volume concrete pours began for the access roads, building slabs, and driveways. Madrid CPWG was on-site day and night to perform materials testing and to collect concrete specimens for testing in our laboratory to ensure that the concrete being placed was of acceptable quality.
Madrid CPWG Approach
Madrid CPWG has maintained an on-call field inspector for the CRUSA project, as the scheduling demands for two separate contractors rarely coincide. When required, Madrid CPWG has provided as many as three separate inspectors at the project site to provide sufficient and exceptional inspection services for the various operations underway. All work was completed in-house.
Madrid CPWG Benefit
The location of the Madrid CPWG home office in the heart of Polk County has allowed us to provide field inspectors rapidly upon request to meet the dynamic demands of the construction operations. We maintain an excellent working relationship with the contractors and County representatives and have consistently provided prompt and professional service, as well as accurate data reporting as we look forward to another successful project completion.
Madrid CPWG provided a full-time inspector and up to three additional inspectors to ensure each phase of the project was professionally inspected.
