Jay Casper, PE, the first recipient of the Larry Madrid GMEC award
and John Delashaw, PE, Vice-President of Madrid CPWG
Jay Casper, PE was the first, and most well-deserving, recipient of the Larry Madrid GMEC (Geotechnical and Materials Engineer’s Committee) Award. Mr. Casper is a Senior Principal and Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Terracon Consultants, Inc. in Winter Park, Florida. He holds multiple degrees from the University of Florida including a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical), a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. He is also the Vice-President of the Tau Beta Pi Chapter.
Mr. Casper received the award at the 2022 GMEC Conference on March 31, 2022. This was special to us because it was the first year where the conference award was named the Larry Madrid GMEC Award. It is awarded to a particular noteworthy engineer/participant/advocate that well represents the geotechnical and materials testing industry. The award recognizes outstanding personal efforts on the part of its recipient to advance the technical and professional practice of geotechnical engineering firms in Florida for a minimum of ten (10) years.
