Infrastructure Bill Funding

The $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill includes $73 billion for upgrading the electric grid. This is a long-overdue investment: the grid, which consists of more than 7,300 power plants, 160,000 miles of high-voltage power lines, and millions of low-voltage power lines. 

 The bill also includes $65 billion to improve our nation’s broadband infrastructure to ensure that “individuals and communities have the information technology capacity that is needed for full participation in the society and economy of the United States

 Another 15 billion will be used to improve Electric Vehicle (EV) use. $5 billion these funds will be used to help states develop charging networks across communities that include rural, disadvantaged, and hard to reach areas, propelling the administration’s decarbonization goals forward through state-level transportation projects. In Florida alone, this comes to $198 million over five years to support the expansion of an EV charging network.
